New Project! Oh, and my kid is cuckoo.
I've been wanting to set up a homework station / command center for a while now, and I came across this post today, which boasted this nifty chalkboard on the left as a part of that blogger's set-up.
Isn't it cute?
I love it, but that blogger's idea of "Budget Friendly" and mine are two different animals. That chalkboard is $50, dude! Not exactly what I'd call a bargain.
So, I've decided that I'm going to make one similar!
Yes, yes . . . I know you're all sitting there thinking, "Gee, Kelly . . . you're going to make one in what spare time that you don't have?!?"
Yes, you're right. Spare time, indeed. Between band, football, and cheerleading . . . homework and studying . . . laundry, cooking, and cleaning up cat puke . . .
Sure! I've got time to kill!
Now chalkboards are all well and good, but I'd prefer a whiteboard . . . one of which I happen to have somewhere in this house. As for the frame . . . ? That's easy. My husband has a ton of old wood in the basement and in the garage. I just need to bug him to cut some up for me. The rest is easy enough. I know how to sand and stain, and I can even wield a hammer and screwdriver, should I so choose. And if I'm not mistaken, we've got some hooks laying around somewhere.
So, at some point in the future, I plan to make something like that cute little chalkboard I've got pictured above.
I'll keep you updated.
But now . . . ? Now I'm going to share a few pictures of my oldest. She's a nutcase.
Here's some background. Thursday evening, my 14-yo and I were sitting in my dad's room, shooting the shit. I looked down at one point and noticed that my 14-yo was wearing my husband's socks, which are obviously and understandably entirely too large on her. She insisted that she was wearing them because they were extra-comfy, which I totally understand.
Then I noticed a subtle, narrow band of color around each of her ankles, over the socks. So I asked her if I could take a closer look. This is what I saw:
She's a nut.
She also praised the area of the socks that covered the tops of her feet . . . the area roughly around where my arrow labeled "husband's sock" is pointing. She said that part of the sock is tighter than the bottom part (the lighter-colored area), so it felt as though "her feet were being hugged all day".
Yep. She's definitely a nut.
Though she's still a nutcase.
